The petition should include position descriptions, organizational charts, and letters from department chairs or research center directors confirming the petitioner's specific leadership responsibilities.

Service as chair of the SSSSA's soil genesis, morphology, and classification division, as a member of the SSSSA Certification Committee, or as a member of the USDA-NRCS National Soil Survey Committee is evidence of critical role at the level of the field's primary professional society and federal program. These positions reflect that the professional community and the federal government have entrusted the petitioner with responsibility for the standards, classification systems, and educational frameworks that define soil science practice.
